{"id":50097,"date":"2019-01-17T08:47:32","date_gmt":"2019-01-17T14:47:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/drillingcontractor.org\/?p=50097"},"modified":"2019-01-30T10:49:22","modified_gmt":"2019-01-30T16:49:22","slug":"appointment-wael-sawan-upstream-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drillingcontractor.org\/appointment-wael-sawan-upstream-director-50097","title":{"rendered":"Shell appoints Wael Sawan as Upstream Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Shell<\/strong> has announced the appointment of <strong>Wael Sawan<\/strong> as Upstream Director with effect from 1 July 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In his new role,&nbsp;Mr Sawan&nbsp;will become a member of the executive committee and will take over from <strong>Andy Brown<\/strong>.&nbsp;Mr Brown will remain available to&nbsp;Mr Sawan&nbsp;and the executive committee to assist with the transition until&nbsp;30 September 2019 and will then leave the company after 35 years of distinguished service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&ldquo;I am grateful to&nbsp;Mr Brown&nbsp;for his strong leadership of the upstream business, particularly having improved business performance during the recent years of low oil price,&#8221; <strong>Ben van Beurden<\/strong>, Chief Executive, said. &#8220;Through his disciplined focus on efficiency, portfolio optimization, safety and talent development, he leaves our upstream business fit for the future.&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the course of his leadership of Shell&rsquo;s business in Qatar,&nbsp;Mr Brown was awarded an OBE by the British government in 2012 recognizing his service to Qatari-British business relations.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shell has announced the appointment of Wael Sawan as Upstream Director with effect from 1 July 2019.
